A  little Holden History...

1856 James Alexander Holden established a saddlery.

1879. Business re named JA Holden & Son.

1908. Holden starts starts repairing car upholstery.

1913. Holden starts making motorcycle side cars.

1914. Holden builds its first car body. General Motors opens in Australia importing USA car chassis.

1924. GM and Holden strike a deal !!! GM Chassis, Holden Bodies.

1928. Holden builds 88,815 Car Bodies.

1931. Depression hits, Holden builds just 1,651 car bodies. GM buys the beleaguered Holden operation, now named General Motors Holden (GMH).

1939. Australia at war. GM Holden re-tools to make Air Frames, Anti Tank Guns, Bomb cases, Machine Guns, Armoured cars etc...

1943. The war effort winds down. GMH starts panning Project 2000, the All Aussie car.

1945. The war is over. Project 2000 continues. GMH assembling Vauxhalls, Chevs, Buick's, Pontiacs.

1946. Detroit builds 3 proto type Project 2000 vehicles.

1947. Project 2000 Vehicles secretly tested in Melbourne.

1948. 10 Pre Production Project 2000 cars made and tested in Melbourne. All is set for the launch of what we now know as 1948 48-215 (FX Holden).

1953. FJ Holden launched.

1956. FE Holden launched.

1958 FC Holden launched.
